Tools:
- Basic hand tools (wrenches, screwdrivers, pliers)
- Jack and jack stands
- Transmission jack or similar support
- Clutch alignment tool
- New clutch release bearing and any other parts you wish to replace (such as the pressure plate and clutch disc)
Steps:
1. Park the vehicle in a safe location and ensure the engine is off and cool. Engage the parking brake and chock the wheels.
2. Loosen the lug nuts on the front wheels but do not remove them completely.
3. Jack up the vehicle until the front wheels are off the ground. Place jack stands under the car for safety.
4. Remove the front wheels.
5. Remove the transmission inspection plate (located under the transmission).
6. Using a clutch alignment tool, align the clutch disc with the pressure plate.
7. Remove the transmission mount (located at the back of the engine).
8. Support the transmission with the transmission jack or other support.
9. Remove the CV joints (or driveshafts) from the transmission.
10. Remove the bolts holding the transmission to the engine.
11. Carefully separate the transmission from the engine. Be careful not to damage the input shaft or clutch disc.
12. Remove the clutch release bearing from the clutch fork.
13. Install the new clutch release bearing onto the clutch fork. Make sure it is seated properly.
14. Reattach the transmission to the engine. Make sure the input shaft is aligned with the clutch disc.
15. Install the CV joints (or driveshafts) back into the transmission.
16. Install the transmission mount.
17. Reinstall the transmission inspection plate.
18. Replace the front wheels and lower the vehicle.
19. Test the clutch to ensure it is working properly.
