2. Open the hood of your Sonoma. Locate the fan belt. It is a black, rubber belt that runs around the water pump, crankshaft pulley, and alternator pulley.
3. Loosen the tensioner pulley bolt. The tensioner pulley is located on the side of the engine, near the top of the fan belt. Use a wrench to loosen the bolt until you feel the tension on the fan belt decrease.
4. Remove the fan belt. Once the tension is released, you can remove the fan belt by slipping it off of the pulleys.
5. Inspect the fan belt for wear and damage. If the fan belt is cracked, frayed, or has any other signs of damage, replace it with a new one.
6. Install the new fan belt. To install the new fan belt, simply reverse the steps for removal.
7. Tighten the tensioner pulley bolt. Once the fan belt is in place, tighten the tensioner pulley bolt until the fan belt is snug.
8. Start the engine and check the fan belt tension. The fan belt should be tight enough to prevent it from slipping, but not so tight that it puts undue stress on the engine.
9. Close the hood of your Sonoma.
