Vehicle Identification Number (VIN)
- Verify ATV has VIN sticker
- If there's no VIN sticker, obtain a VIN by contacting the nearest NJ MVC inspection center
Title
- Apply for a title for the ATV
- Submit the following:
- Manufacturer Statement of Origin (MSO) or bill of sale
- VIN inspection report
- Proof of ownership
- Pay the required fee
Registration
- Register ATV with the NJ MVC
- Submit the following:
- Completed Application for Registration (Form MV-82)
- Title
- Proof of insurance
- VIN inspection report
- Pay the required fee
Insurance
- ATV must be covered by liability insurance
- Insurance policy must meet the following minimum requirements:
- Bodily injury liability: $15,000 per person/$30,000 per accident
- Property damage liability: $5,000 per accident

- ATV must be equipped with the following:
- Headlights
- Taillights
- Brake lights
- Turn signals
- Mirrors
- Horn
- Windshield
- Muffler
