1. Vehicle Preparation:
- Park your vehicle on a level surface and turn off the engine.
- Engage the parking brake to ensure the vehicle is stable.
2. Remove Gear Selector Cover:
- Open the center console by sliding it back.
- Remove the screws holding the gear selector cover in place and lift it off.
- Disconnect the electrical connectors located on the backside of the cover.
3. Disconnect Shift Cable:
- You'll see a shift cable connected to the gear selector.
- Press the small release button on the cable connection to detach it from the selector.
4. Remove Gear Selector Assembly:
- Locate the bolts securing the gear selector assembly to the transmission tunnel.
- Remove these bolts carefully, as the assembly might pop up as the pressure is released.
5. Change Gear Selector:
- Lift out the old gear selector assembly, taking care not to spill any transmission fluid.
- Replace it with the new gear selector.
6. Reconnect Shift Cable:
- Reattach the shift cable to the new gear selector by aligning it and pressing the release button.
7. Reinstall Assembly:
- Carefully align the gear selector assembly with the transmission tunnel and secure it using the mounting bolts.
8. Reconnect Electrical Connectors:
- Reconnect any electrical connectors you disconnected when removing the gear selector cover.
9. Reinstall Gear Selector Cover:
- Place the gear selector cover back in its position.
- Secure the cover using its original screws.
10. Test the Gear Selector:
- Start your vehicle and test the gear selector to ensure it's functioning correctly.
