How do you change rear tire on 1996 suzuki intruder?

Step 1: Preparation

- Park your motorcycle on its center stand or securely lifted off the ground.

- Engage the parking brake or put the bike in gear to prevent rolling.

- Gather your tools and materials, including a jack, a 24mm wrench or socket, a tire iron or pry bar, a new tire, a new inner tube (if needed), and a tire pressure gauge.

Step 2: Remove the Rear Axle Nut and Belt Guard

- Locate the rear axle nut on the right side of the swingarm.

- Use the 24mm wrench or socket to loosen and remove the rear axle nut.

- Remove the belt guard by removing the bolts holding it in place.

Step 3: Jack the Swingarm Up

- Position the jack under the swingarm near the axle.

- Begin jacking up the swingarm until it lifts the rear tire off the ground.

Step 4: Remove the Old Tire

- Use the tire iron or pry bar to pry the old tire off the rim, starting from one side and working your way around the entire rim.

- Once the tire is removed, inspect the rim for any damage or wear.

Step 5: Install the New Tire

- Place the new tire on the rim and check if the tire is properly seated on the rim.

- Use a hand or foot to press the tire onto the rim starting from one side and working your way around the entire rim.

- Ensure the tire is centered and seated evenly.

Step 6: Install the Inner Tube

- If your tire requires an inner tube, carefully insert the inner tube into the tire.

- Make sure the stem hole is aligned with the valve stem on the rim.

- Press down on the tire and inflate it to the recommended pressure.

- If the inner tube gets twisted, deflate it and rotate the inner tube before re-inflating it.

Step 7: Mount the Tire on the Rim

- Use a tire iron or pry bar to pry the tire back onto the rim, starting from one side and working your way around the entire rim.

- Ensure that the tire is seated properly and evenly on the rim.

Step 8: Reinstall the Belt Guard

- Reinstall the belt guard by securing it with the bolts you removed earlier.

Step 9: Lower the Swingarm and Tighten the Axle Nut

- Slowly lower the swingarm using the jack until the rear tire is back on the ground.

- Tighten the rear axle nut to the specified torque according to your motorcycle's manual.

Step 10: Reinflate the Tire

- Use the tire pressure gauge to check and adjust the tire pressure to the recommended level.

Step 11: Safety Check

- Double-check all bolts and nuts to ensure they are properly tightened.

- Recheck the tire pressure and make sure it is at the recommended level.

Step 12: Test the Repair

- Take your motorcycle for a short test ride in a low-traffic area to ensure that the new tire is properly installed and functions correctly.

Note: Always refer to your motorcycle's service manual for specific instructions and torque specifications related to your model. If you are unsure about performing this repair, it is best to consult with a professional motorcycle mechanic.
