Locate the fan belt: The fan belt is located in the front of the engine, near the radiator. It is a black rubber belt that runs from the crankshaft pulley to the water pump pulley and the alternator pulley.
Loosen the adjusting bolt: There is an adjusting bolt located near the alternator. Loosen this bolt using a wrench.
Move the alternator: Once the adjusting bolt is loosened, you can move the alternator to tighten the fan belt. Use a pry bar or a wrench to move the alternator.
Tighten the adjusting bolt: Once the fan belt is tight, tighten the adjusting bolt.
Check the fan belt tension: Use a fan belt tension gauge to check the tension of the fan belt. The tension should be between 25 and 35 lbs.
If the tension is too loose or too tight, adjust it by moving the alternator and tightening the adjusting bolt until the correct tension is achieved.
