* Be at least 18 years of age.

* Have a commercial driver's license (CDL) with a Class A or Class B endorsement.
* Have a valid towing business license.
* Have a valid insurance policy that meets the state's minimum requirements.
* Have a properly equipped tow truck.
* Pass a background check.
The following are the steps to obtain a towing business license in Kentucky:
1. Complete the application form.
2. Pay the application fee.
3. Provide proof of insurance.
4. Provide a copy of your CDL.
5. Provide a copy of your driver's license.
6. Provide a copy of your business license.
7. Submit the completed application and all required documents to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.
Once your application has been approved, you will be issued a towing business license. You must carry this license with you at all times when operating a tow truck.
The following are the minimum insurance requirements for tow trucks in Kentucky:
* Bodily injury liability: $100,000 per person, $200,000 per accident.
* Property damage liability: $50,000 per accident.
