Disconnect the negative (black) battery cable from the battery terminal.
Wait at least 10 seconds to allow the PCM to completely power down.
Reconnect the negative battery cable to the battery terminal.
Turn the ignition key to the "Run" position, but do not start the engine.
Wait for about 30 seconds, allowing the PCM to go through its initialization process.
Start the engine and let it run for several minutes. This step allows the PCM to learn and adjust to the current engine conditions.
Perform any necessary reprogramming or adaptation procedures, as specified in the vehicle repair manual or service information for the 1995 Cavalier.
Note that resetting the PCM may clear any stored diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) in the PCM's memory. If you are resetting the PCM for diagnostic purposes, it's recommended to scan for trouble codes before and after the reset to see if any codes have been cleared or new codes have been set.
