1. Park the Taurus on a level surface and apply the parking brake.
2. Turn the steering wheel all the way to the left.
3. Locate the tie rod end, which is the outer part of the tie rod that connects to the steering knuckle.
4. Use a 19mm wrench to loosen the jam nut on the tie rod end.
5. Turn the tie rod end clockwise until the desired amount of toe-in is achieved.
6. Tighten the jam nut to secure the tie rod end in place.
7. Repeat steps 2-6 for the tie rod end on the other side of the Taurus.
8. Turn the steering wheel all the way to the right and check the toe-in again.
9. If necessary, adjust the tie rod ends again until the desired amount of toe-in is achieved.
Note: The amount of toe-in recommended for a 1998 Ford Taurus is 0.16 degrees +/- 0.04 degrees.
