How do you adjust the timing on a 1993 Mazda mx6?

To adjust the timing on a 1993 Mazda MX6, follow these steps:

1. Locate the timing belt. It is located at the front of the engine, behind the water pump.

2. Remove the timing belt cover. There are two bolts on the top and one on the bottom.

3. Turn the crankshaft pulley clockwise until the timing marks on the camshaft and crankshaft sprockets are aligned. The timing marks are small notches on the sprockets.

4. Loosen the camshaft sprocket bolts. There are two bolts on each sprocket.

5. Slide the camshaft sprockets forward or backward to adjust the timing. The sprockets can be moved one tooth forward or backward at a time.

6. Tighten the camshaft sprocket bolts.

7. Reinstall the timing belt cover.

8. Start the engine and check the timing. The timing is correct if the engine idles smoothly and there are no knocking or pinging noises.

If you are not comfortable adjusting the timing yourself, you can take your car to a qualified mechanic.
