Instructions:
1. Prepare the vehicle.
* Turn off the engine and allow it to cool down.
* Open the hood and remove the negative battery terminal cable.
* Place a drain pan under the vehicle to catch any coolant that drains out.
* Loosen the radiator drain plug and drain the coolant from the radiator.
2. Remove the fan shroud.
* Remove the bolts holding the fan shroud in place.
* Lift the fan shroud off the engine.
3. Remove the serpentine belt.
* Use a 3/8" drive breaker bar to loosen the belt tensioner bolt.
* Slide the belt off the pulleys.
4. Remove the water pump.
* Remove the bolts holding the water pump in place.
* Use a water pump pliers or adjustable crescent wrench to turn the water pump counterclockwise until it breaks loose.
* Lift the water pump off the engine.
5. Clean the mounting surface.
* Use a degreaser and rags to clean the mounting surface of the water pump and the engine block.
* Allow the surface to dry completely.
6. Apply RTV silicone sealant.
* Apply a thin bead of RTV silicone sealant to the mating surface of the water pump and the engine block.
7. Install the new water pump.
* Place the new water pump on the engine block and align the bolt holes.
* Thread the bolts into the water pump and tighten them until they are snug.
8. Install the new serpentine belt.
* Slide the serpentine belt onto the pulleys.
* Tighten the belt tensioner bolt until the belt is tensioned properly.
9. Install the fan shroud.
* Replace the fan shroud on the engine and install the bolts.
10. Refill the cooling system.
* Refill the cooling system with coolant.
* Replace the radiator drain plug and tighten it securely.
11. Start the engine.
* Start the engine and allow it to run for a few minutes.
* Check for any leaks from the water pump.
12. Test the thermostat.
* If the new water pump works correctly but the engine is still overheating, the thermostat may be stuck closed.
* To test the thermostat, remove it and place it in a pot of boiling water.
* If the thermostat does not open immediately, it's stuck closed and must be replaced.
13. Reinstall the negative battery terminal cable.
* Reinstall the negative battery terminal cable and tighten it securely.
