1. Park the vehicle in a safe and level area, and apply the parking brake.
2. Locate the vacuum parking brake release under the dashboard, usually near the driver's left knee. Pull up on the release to disengage the parking brake.
3. Crawl underneath the vehicle and locate the vacuum parking brake unit, usually mounted on the transmission.
4. Disconnect the vacuum hose from the vacuum parking brake unit.
5. Remove the bolts or nuts that secure the vacuum parking brake unit to the transmission.
6. Remove the vacuum parking brake unit from the vehicle.
7. Inspect the vacuum parking brake unit for damage or wear and replace it if necessary.
8. Reinstall the bolts or nuts that secure the vacuum parking brake unit to the transmission.
9. Reconnect the vacuum hose to the vacuum parking brake unit.
10. Test the parking brake by applying and releasing it several times to ensure that it is functioning properly.
