-Water pump gasket (Nissan part number 11043-0M300)
-Coolant (Nissan Matic D or equivalent)
Instructions
1. Park the car on a level surface and turn off the engine. Allow the engine to cool down.
2. Open the hood and remove the radiator cap. Drain the coolant from the radiator by opening the drain plug at the bottom of the radiator.
3. Remove the serpentine belt. First loosen the tensioner pulley by inserting a 12mm socket into the square hole on the pulley and turning it counterclockwise. Then remove the belt from the pulleys.
4. Remove the four 10mm bolts holding the water pump to the engine block.
Note: One of the bolts is difficult to reach. You may need to use an extension to reach it.
5. Remove the water pump from the engine block. Be careful not to damage the gasket.
6. Clean the mating surface of the engine block and the water pump with a gasket scraper.
7. Apply a thin bead of sealant to the new water pump gasket.
8. Install the new water pump gasket on the engine block.
9. Install the water pump on the engine block and secure it with the four bolts.
10. Tighten the bolts evenly to 18 ft-lbs.
11. Install the serpentine belt.
12. Close the radiator drain plug and re-fill the radiator at least halfway and ensure the coolant reservoir has coolant.
13. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes. Check for leaks.
Tips
-If you are having trouble removing the serpentine belt, you can try using a pry bar to pry it off of the pulleys.
-If you are having trouble removing the water pump bolts, you can try spraying them with penetrating oil. Allow the penetrating oil to sit for a few minutes before attempting to remove the bolts.
-Be careful not to over-tighten the water pump bolts. This could damage the water pump or the engine block.
-If you have any questions, please consult with a qualified mechanic.
