1. Insert the key into the ignition.
2. Gently turn the key to the "ON" position.
3. While holding the key in the "ON" position, jiggle the steering wheel left and right.
4. Continue to jiggle the steering wheel until the key turns all the way to the "START" position and the car starts.
Method 2: Use a screwdriver to unlock the steering wheel
1. Insert a flat-head screwdriver into the small hole on the side of the steering column.
2. Push the screwdriver in until you feel it click.
3. Turn the key to the "ON" position.
4. While holding the key in the "ON" position, turn the screwdriver clockwise until the steering wheel unlocks.
5. Start the car.
Method 3: Unlock the steering wheel using a hammer or mallet
1. Firmly tap the steering wheel with a hammer or mallet.
2. Repeat step 1 several times until the steering wheel unlocks.
3. Start the car.
Tips
- If you are unable to unlock the steering wheel using any of the methods above, you may need to take your car to a mechanic.
- If the steering wheel is locked because the car has been sitting for a long time, you may need to add some penetrating oil to the steering column.
