How do you change a belt on 1993 Honda Del Sol?

Tools Needed

- 10mm socket

- 12mm socket

- Ratchet

- Extension

- Breaker bar

- Flathead screwdriver

- Pliers

- New serpentine belt

Instructions

1. Park your Honda Del Sol on a level surface and turn off the engine. Allow the engine to cool down completely.

2. Open the hood of your Del Sol.

3. Locate the serpentine belt. It is the long, thin belt that wraps around the front of the engine.

4. Use the 10mm socket and ratchet to loosen the tensioner pulley bolt. The tensioner pulley is located on the top of the engine, near the front.

5. Once the tensioner pulley bolt is loose, use the flathead screwdriver to pry the tensioner pulley up. This will release the tension on the serpentine belt.

6. Remove the serpentine belt by sliding it off of the pulleys.

7. Inspect the serpentine belt for wear and damage. If the belt is cracked, frayed, or has any other damage, it must be replaced.

8. Install the new serpentine belt by sliding it onto the pulleys.

9. Use the flathead screwdriver to pry the tensioner pulley up again.

10. Tighten the tensioner pulley bolt with the 10mm socket and ratchet.

11. Close the hood of your Del Sol.

Tips

- If you have difficulty loosening the tensioner pulley bolt, you can use a breaker bar.

- Be careful not to drop the serpentine belt into the engine. If the belt does fall into the engine, you will need to remove the engine oil pan to retrieve it.
