Materials and Tools Needed:
1. Jack and jack stands (or a car ramp)
2. Lug wrench
3. Spare tire
4. Wheel chock or parking brake
Step-by-Step Instructions:
1. Choose a Safe Location:
Find a flat, stable surface to work on. Use parking brake and/or wheel chocks to prevent the car from rolling.
2. Remove the Hubcap or Wheel Cover (if equipped)
If your Land Cruiser has a hubcap, use a flat-head screwdriver or appropriate tool to pry it off.
3. Loosen the Lug Nuts (do not remove yet)
Use the lug wrench to turn the lug nuts counterclockwise until they're slightly loosened.
4. Jack Up the Vehicle:
Place the jack under a solid point of the vehicle's frame, near the flat tire. Be sure to use the manufacturer-designated lifting points for your specific Land Cruiser model. If using a jack, raise the vehicle until the tire is a few inches off the ground. If using ramps, drive the car onto them to raise the vehicle and access the tire.
5. Remove the Lug Nuts and Flat Tire:
Use the lug wrench to remove the lug nuts completely and take off the flat tire.
6. Place the Spare Tire:
Place the spare tire on the lug bolts and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
7. Lower the Vehicle:
Slowly lower the vehicle using the jack or ramps until it's just touching the ground.
8. Tighten the Lug Nuts (Not Too Tight Yet):
Use the lug wrench to tighten the lug nuts in a star pattern. Snug them up firmly, but not too tight.
9. Lower the Vehicle Completely:
Lower the car all the way down.
10. Finish Tightening the Lug Nuts:
Once the vehicle is back on the ground, tighten the lug nuts snugly with the lug wrench.
11. Replace the Hubcap or Wheel Cover (if applicable):
Put the hubcap or wheel cover back in place.
12. Store the Flat Tire and Tools:
Put the flat tire and tools back in the designated storage area in the vehicle.
13. Double-check:
Visually check that the lug nuts are tight, and the spare tire is properly secured before driving.
