Step 1: Remove the Interior Door Panel
1. Pry off the plastic cover from the door handle using a flat-head screwdriver.
2. Using the Phillips-head screwdriver, remove the screws holding the door panel in place.
3. Remove the power window and lock switches from the door panel by carefully prying them out with the flat-head screwdriver.
4. Disconnect the cables attached to the door handle and window crank.
5. Gently pull the door panel away from the door, starting from the top corner.
Step 2: Remove the Old Door Handle
6. Remove the bolts that secure the door handle to the door using the Phillips-head screwdriver.
7. Pull the old door handle out of the door.
Step 3: Install the New Door Handle
8. Insert the new door handle into the door.
9. Secure the new door handle with the bolts removed in Step 7.
10. Reconnect the cables attached to the door handle and window crank.
Step 4: Reattach the Interior Door Panel
11. Slide the door panel back onto the door, starting at the top corner.
12. Replace the screws that hold the door panel in place.
13. Reinstall the power window and lock switches.
14. Snap the plastic cover back onto the door handle.
Step 5: Test the Door Handle
15. Open and close the door several times to ensure the new door handle works correctly.
Tips:
- Before you start, apply WD-40 to all the bolts and screws that need removing. This will make them easier to loosen.
- Take care not to damage the door panel when prying it off.
- If the new door handle feels loose, tighten the bolts until it is secure.
