1. Gather Tools and Materials:
- New shocks
- Socket set
- Wrenches
- Screwdriver
- Jack and jack stands
- Safety glasses
2. Preparation:
- Park the car on a level surface and engage the parking brake.
- Loosen the lug nuts on the wheels but don't remove them yet.
- Place the jack under the car's frame and lift it until the tire is off the ground.
- Secure the car using jack stands.
- Remove the lug nuts and take off the wheel.
3. Remove Old Shocks:
- Locate the upper shock mount inside the engine compartment.
- Use a wrench to loosen the upper shock mounting nuts.
- Go under the car and locate the lower shock mount.
- Remove the lower shock mounting bolts.
- The shock absorber should now be loose and can be removed.
4. Install New Shocks:
- Insert the new shock absorber into the lower mount.
- Secure the shock absorber using the mounting bolts.
- Go to the engine compartment and align the upper shock mount.
- Secure the upper shock mount with the mounting nuts.
5. Reattach the Wheel:
- Place the wheel back on the hub.
- Tighten the lug nuts by hand.
- Lower the car until the wheel is on the ground.
- Tighten the lug nuts using a wrench in a star pattern.
6. Repeat for Other Side:
- Repeat the process on the other side of the car to replace the other shock absorber.
7. Test the Shocks:
- Lower the car off the jack stands and remove them.
- Take the car for a short drive to test the new shocks.
