1. Park your car on a level surface and turn off the engine. Engage the parking brake and chock the wheels to prevent the car from rolling.
2. Locate the ball joint that you need to replace. It is usually located on the lower control arm, at the wheel's back.
3. Jack up the car and remove the lug nuts. This will allow you to remove the wheel.
4. Once the wheel is removed, you can access the ball joint. Use the ball joint separator to separate the ball joint from the control arm.
5. Once the ball joint is separated, you can remove the nuts that hold it in place. Then you can pry the ball joint out of the control arm.
6. Apply some grease to the new ball joint. This will ensure it operates smoothly.
7. Insert the new ball joint into the control arm. Secure nuts.
8. Reattach the ball joint separator and tighten the nuts until the ball joint is secure.
9. Reattach the wheel and lower the car.
10. Turn on the engine and test the ball joint. Make sure there is no play or clunking sound when you turn the steering wheel.
*Note: If you do not feel comfortable performing this repair yourself, you can take your car to a mechanic to have the ball joint replaced.*
