Step by step directions for replacing the starter on a 1994 Honda Accord?

Tools Needed:

- 10mm socket wrench

- 12mm socket wrench

- 14mm socket wrench

- 17mm socket wrench

- pry bar

-hammer

Step 1: Disconnect the battery.

-Locate the negative battery terminal (marked with a "-") on the battery.

-Loosen the negative terminal nut using the 10mm socket wrench.

-Remove the negative terminal nut and washer, and set them aside.

-Disconnect the negative battery cable from the terminal.

-Set the negative battery cable aside.

Step 2: Remove the starter motor heat shield.

-Locate the starter motor heat shield on the bottom of the engine compartment.

-Remove the two 12mm bolts that hold the starter motor heat shield in place.

-Remove the starter motor heat shield.

Step 3: Remove the starter motor solenoid wires.

-Locate the two starter motor solenoid wires on the side of the starter motor.

-Loosen the two 10mm nuts that hold the starter motor solenoid wires in place.

-Remove the two starter motor solenoid wires from the starter motor solenoid.

-Set the starter motor solenoid wires aside.

Step 4: Remove the starter motor.

-Locate the starter motor on the bottom of the engine compartment.

-Place a pry bar between the starter motor and the transmission bell housing.

-Pry the starter motor away from the transmission bell housing.

-Loosen the two 17mm bolts that hold the starter motor in place.

-Remove the two 17mm bolts and washers.

-Remove the starter motor from the car.

Step 5: Clean the starter motor mounting surface.

- Remove any dirt or debris that may have accumulated on the starter motor mounting surface with the hammer and pry bar.

Step 6: Install the new starter motor.

- Carefully position the new starter motor into place.

-Replace the two 17mm bolts that hold the starter motor in place.

- Tighten the bolts evenly until snug.

Step 7: Re-attach the starter motor solenoid wires.

- Reattach the two starter motor solenoid wires to the starter motor solenoid.

- Tighten the two 10mm nuts that hold the starter motor solenoid wires in place.

Step 8: Re-attach the starter motor heat shield.

- Re-position the starter motor heat shield onto the car.

-Replace the two 12mm bolts that hold the starter motor heat shield in place.

Step 9: Re-attach the battery cable.

-Connect the negative battery cable to the negative terminal on the battery.

- replace the negative terminal nut and washer.

-Tighten the negative terminal nut until snug.
