How do you Change the entire Hyundai 03 Santa Fe tail light assembly?

Tools Needed

* Phillips-head screwdriver

* Flat-head screwdriver

* 10mm socket wrench

* 12mm socket wrench

* Torque wrench

* Replacement tail light assembly

Instructions

1. Park your car in a safe location and turn off the engine. Engage the parking brake. If the light is hot, allow the bulbs to cool down completely.

2. Open the trunk of your car.

3. Locate the two Phillips-head screws that hold the tail light assembly in place. They are located on the inside of the trunk, near the tail lights.

4. Remove the two screws using a Phillips-head screwdriver.

5. Gently pry the tail light assembly out of the trunk. Be careful not to damage the paint on your car.

6. Disconnect the electrical connector from the back of the tail light assembly.

7. Remove the two 10mm bolts that hold the tail light assembly in place.

8. Lift the tail light assembly out of the car.

9. Remove the four 12mm bolts that hold the lens to the tail light assembly.

10. Separate the lens from the tail light assembly.

11. Transfer the bulbs and sockets from the old tail light assembly to the new one.

12. Reattach the lens to the tail light assembly using the four 12mm bolts.

13. Install the tail light assembly into the car by reversing the steps you took to remove it.

14. Tighten the two 10mm bolts that hold the tail light assembly in place to 10 Nm.

15. Tighten the two Phillips-head screws that hold the tail light assembly in place to 2 Nm.

16. Test the tail lights to make sure they are working properly.

Tips

* If you are replacing a tail light assembly that is damaged, you may need to transfer the bulbs and sockets from the old assembly to the new one.

* Be careful not to damage the paint on your car when you are removing the tail light assembly.

* If you are not comfortable performing this repair yourself, you can take your car to a qualified mechanic.
