Locate the high mount brake light assembly on the rear of your vehicle. It is typically located at the top of the rear window, near the center.
Open the rear liftgate or hatch of your vehicle.
Locate the two screws that hold the high mount brake light assembly in place. They are typically located on the inside of the liftgate or hatch, near the top of the assembly.
Remove the two screws using a Phillips head screwdriver.
Gently pull the high mount brake light assembly out of the vehicle. Be careful not to drop it.
Locate the brake light bulb socket on the back of the assembly. It is typically a black or gray plastic socket with a single wire connected to it.
Twist the brake light bulb socket counterclockwise to remove it from the assembly.
Pull the old brake light bulb out of the socket.
Insert the new brake light bulb into the socket.
Twist the brake light bulb socket clockwise to secure it in place.
Reinsert the high mount brake light assembly into the vehicle.
Replace the two screws that hold the assembly in place.
Test the high mount brake light to ensure that it is working properly.
