1. Replacement Brake Light Bulb (Recommended 921 or equivalent)
2. Phillips head screwdriver
3. Flat head screwdriver (optional)
Instructions:
1. Turn off the vehicle and engage the parking brake. Before working on the brake light, make sure that the vehicle is turned off and the parking brake is applied. This will help prevent the vehicle from rolling or moving during the bulb replacement process.
2. Locate the brake light assembly. The brake light assembly is located at the rear of the vehicle, near the top corner. Look for the rectangular red or clear lens cover; this houses the brake light bulb.
3. Remove the screws holding the brake light assembly in place. There are typically two screws that hold the brake light assembly in place, both located on the outer edges of the lens cover. Use a Phillips head screwdriver to remove the screws and set them aside.
4. Disconnect the electrical connector. Once the screws are removed, gently pull the brake light assembly away from the vehicle until you expose the electrical connector. Disconnect this connector by pressing the release tab and pulling the connector straight out of the socket. Be careful not to tug or damage the connector.
5. Remove the old brake light bulb. Once the electrical connector is disconnected, you can access the old brake light bulb by rotating it counterclockwise. Twist it until it is loose and comes out of its socket.
6. Install the new brake light bulb. Take the replacement bulb and insert it into the socket, turning it clockwise until it is secure. Ensure the new bulb is seated correctly and making good contact with the vehicle's electrical socket.
7. Reconnect the electrical connector. Plug the electrical connector back into its socket, ensuring it is fully engaged and connected securely.
8. Reattach the brake light assembly. Align the brake light assembly with the mounting holes on the vehicle's body. Reinstall the screws you removed in step 3, tightening them until they are secure.
9. Test the brake light. Turn on the vehicle's lights and lightly apply the brake pedal to ensure the new brake light bulb is working correctly.
Remember to properly dispose of the old brake light bulb and keep the new one in a safe place for future replacements.
