How do you compress the rear calipers on a 2001 Mazda Protege?

To compress the rear calipers on a 2001 Mazda Protege, you will need the following tools:

- A jack and jack stands

- A C-clamp or a large wrench

- A flathead screwdriver

- A pair of pliers

1. Park your car on a level surface and engage the parking brake.

2. Jack up the rear of the car and support it on jack stands.

3. Remove the rear wheels.

4. Locate the brake caliper on the back of the wheel hub.

5. Use the C-clamp or wrench to compress the piston back into the caliper.

6. Once the piston is fully compressed, use the flathead screwdriver to pry the brake pad away from the rotor.

7. Remove the brake pad from the caliper.

8. Inspect the brake pad for wear and replace it if necessary.

9. Reinstall the brake pad in the caliper.

10. Reinstall the brake caliper onto the wheel hub.

11. Reinstall the wheels.

12. Lower the car off the jack stands.
