1. Prepare your materials. You will need:
* A new oil filter (check your owner's manual for the correct size)
* A new oil filter gasket (usually included with the filter)
* An oil drain pan
* A funnel
* A wrench
* A rag
2. Locate the oil filter. The oil filter on the 2008 Nissan Frontier is located on the passenger side of the engine, near the bottom. It is a cylindrical-shaped object with a black cap.
3. Place the oil drain pan under the oil filter. This will catch the oil that drains out when you remove the filter.
4. Loosen the oil filter cap. Use the wrench to loosen the cap counterclockwise until it is hand-tight.
5. Remove the oil filter cap and gasket. Be careful not to spill any oil.
6. Inspect the oil filter gasket. If the gasket is damaged or deformed, replace it with a new one.
7. Apply a thin coat of new oil to the gasket of the new oil filter. This will help to create a seal and prevent leaks.
8. Screw the new oil filter onto the oil filter housing. Hand-tighten the filter until it is snug, then use the wrench to tighten it an additional 1/4 to 1/2 turn.
9. Replace the oil drain plug. Tighten the plug securely.
10. Add new oil to the engine. Use the funnel to add the amount of oil specified in your owner's manual.
11. Check the oil level. Use the dipstick to check the oil level. The oil level should be between the "Full" and "Add" marks on the dipstick.
12. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes. This will circulate the new oil throughout the engine.
13. Check for leaks. Look under the vehicle for any leaks. If you see any leaks, tighten the oil filter or drain plug until the leaks stop.
