- Replacement crank position sensor
- Socket set
- Wrench set
- Pliers
- Screwdriver
- Flashlight
Procedure:
1. Locate the crank position sensor. It is usually located near the crankshaft on the front or rear of the engine. It will have a connector with several wires attached to it.
2. Disconnect the electrical connector. Use a screwdriver to release the locking tab on the connector. Then, gently pull the connector off the sensor.
3. Remove the mounting bolts. Use a wrench to loosen the mounting bolts that hold the sensor in place. Be careful not to drop the bolts into the engine.
4. Pull out the old sensor. Once the bolts are removed, you can pull the sensor out of its mounting hole.
5. Install the new sensor. Insert the new sensor into the mounting hole and secure it with the mounting bolts.
6. Reconnect the electrical connector. Push the connector onto the sensor until it clicks into place.
7. Start the engine and test the sensor. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes. Then, use a code reader to check for any trouble codes. If there are no codes, the sensor is working properly.
