1. Park your Jeep on a level surface and turn off the engine. Let the engine cool down completely.
2. Crawl under the Jeep and locate the clutch adjustment nut. It is usually a 13mm or 15mm nut.
3. Loosen the locknut on the clutch adjustment nut. This is typically a smaller nut located next to the adjustment nut.
4. Turn the clutch adjustment nut clockwise until you feel resistance. Do not overtighten the nut, as this can damage the clutch.
5. Tighten the locknut to hold the clutch adjustment nut in place.
6. Lower the Jeep and test the clutch. The clutch should now engage smoothly and release completely.
Note: If the clutch still does not engage or release properly, you may need to adjust the clutch pedal free play. This is also located on the transmission bell housing, near the top. Loosen the locknut on the clutch pedal free play nut and turn the nut clockwise until the clutch pedal has about 1/4 inch of free play. Tighten the locknut to hold the clutch pedal free play nut in place.
