Tools Needed:
• Wheel chocks
• Jack and jack stands
• ½ inch socket set
• C-clamp
• Brake grease
Step 1: Park your vehicle on a level surface and engage the parking brake.
Step 2: Loosen the lug nuts on the front wheels, but do not remove them completely.
Step 3: Raise the front of the vehicle with a jack and support it on jack stands. Make sure the vehicle is stable and secure before proceeding.
Step 4: Remove the lug nuts and take off the front wheels.
Step 5: Locate the brake caliper. It is usually held in place by two bolts.
Step 6: Remove the bolts that hold the caliper in place and carefully remove the caliper from the rotor. Be careful not to damage the brake line that is attached to the caliper.
Step 7: Remove the old brake pads from the caliper. There may be a metal clip or pin holding the pads in place. Use a flat-head screwdriver to remove the clip or pin.
Step 8: Clean the caliper and the rotor. Make sure to remove any dirt or debris.
Step 9: Apply a small amount of brake grease to the back of the new brake pads. This will help to prevent squealing and ensure smooth operation.
Step 10: Slide the new brake pads into place. Make sure that they are seated properly.
Step 11: Reinstall the caliper and secure it with the bolts that you removed earlier. Tighten the bolts to snug tightness.
Step 12: Reinstall the front wheels and lug nuts. Tighten the lug nuts until they are snug.
Step 13: Lower the vehicle from the jack stands.
Step 14: Pump the brake pedal several times to seat the new brake pads. You may need to apply moderate pressure to the pedal.
Step 15: Test the brakes by driving the vehicle at a low speed. Listen for any unusual noises or vibrations. If everything seems to be in order, you can resume normal driving.
