Materials Needed:
- Replacement front oil seal
- Oil drain pan
- New motor oil
- Oil filter wrench
- Funnel
- Wrench set
- Rags
Procedure:
1. Park the vehicle on a level surface and apply the parking brake.
2. Locate the oil drain plug and place the oil drain pan underneath.
3. Unscrew the oil drain plug and allow the old oil to drain into the pan.
4. Once the old oil has drained, replace the drain plug.
5. Remove the oil filter using an oil filter wrench.
6. Apply a thin coat of new oil to the gasket of the new oil filter and screw it into place.
7. Raise the vehicle using a jack and place jack stands underneath for safety.
8. Locate the front oil seal on the engine near the crankshaft pulley.
9. Using a wrench, remove the bolts holding the oil seal in place.
10. Carefully pry the old oil seal off the crankshaft.
11. Clean the area around the oil seal with a rag.
12. Apply a thin coat of sealant around the new oil seal.
13. Press the new oil seal into place and secure it with the bolts you removed earlier.
14. Lower the vehicle and start the engine.
15. Let the engine run for a few minutes and check for any leaks.
If the leak persists after following these steps, you may need to have the engine inspected by a qualified mechanic to identify any underlying issues.
