What causes my jeep to stall while idling?

1. Vacuum leak

A vacuum leak can cause your Jeep to stall while idling because it allows unmetered air to enter the engine. This can cause the air-fuel mixture to become too lean, which can lead to stalling.

2. Idle air control valve (IACV)

The IACV is responsible for controlling the amount of air that bypasses the throttle body at idle. If the IACV is faulty, it can cause the engine to stall while idling.

3. Throttle position sensor (TPS)

The TPS is responsible for sending a signal to the engine control unit (ECU) indicating the position of the throttle body. If the TPS is faulty, it can send an incorrect signal to the ECU, which can cause the engine to stall while idling.

4. Faulty fuel injector

A faulty fuel injector can cause the engine to stall while idling because it can deliver too much or too little fuel to the engine. This can cause the air-fuel mixture to become too rich or too lean, which can lead to stalling.

5. Fuel filter

A clogged fuel filter can restrict the flow of fuel to the engine, which can cause the engine to stall while idling.

6. Bad spark plugs or wires

Worn-out spark plugs or spark wires can cause misfires, which can lead to stalling. Spark plugs and spark wires should be inspected and replaced as needed.

7. Faulty oxygen sensor

An oxygen sensor is responsible for monitoring the amount of oxygen in the exhaust gases. If the oxygen sensor is faulty, it can send an incorrect signal to the ECU, which can cause the engine to stall while idling.
