Replacing the Windshield Wiper Blades on a 2001 Oldsmobile Alero

Step 1: Check the Size

Before anything else, make sure you have the correct size wipers for your vehicle. You can check the owner’s manual for recommended sizes or refer to packaging of a new blades for sizing information.

Step 2: Lift and Secure the Wipers

- Push down on the hood of the car to engage the hood latch and prop the hood open.

- Open the hood of your vehicle and locate the wiper arms. On the Oldsmobile Alero, the wiper arms are mounted to the base of the windshield.

- Gently lift the wiper arm until the wiper blade is perpendicular to the windshield. Be careful not to apply too much force, as you could break the wiper arm.

- Secure the wiper arm in the upright position using a piece of tape or string.

Step 3: Remove the Old Wiper Blades

- Once the wiper arm is secure, push down on the release tab on the wiper blade connector and slide the old blade off the wiper arm.

Step 4: Install the New Wiper Blades

- Take the new wiper blade and align it with the wiper arm.

- Slide the new blade onto the wiper arm until the release tab clicks into place.

Step 5: Test the Wiper Blades

- Turn on the windshield wipers and test them out. Make sure they wipe the windshield clean and do not chatter or skip.
