How do you change the alternator belt on a 2003 fiesta 1.4 tdci?

Tools and materials needed:

- 10mm spanner

- 13mm spanner

- 17mm spanner

- Flat-head screwdriver

- New alternator belt

Instructions:

1. Park the car on a level surface and engage the parking brake.

2. Open the hood of the car.

3. Locate the alternator. It is mounted on the front of the engine, on the left side.

4. Loosen the 10mm bolt that holds the tensioner pulley in place.

5. Use the flat-head screwdriver to pry the tensioner pulley back, so that the belt can be removed.

6. Remove the old alternator belt from around the pulleys.

7. Install the new alternator belt. Make sure that it is properly seated around all of the pulleys.

8. Tighten the 10mm bolt that holds the tensioner pulley in place.

9. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes. Check to make sure that the new alternator belt is properly seated and that there is no noise.

10. Close the hood of the car.

Tips:

- If the new belt is too tight, it will squeal. If it is too loose, it will slip and the alternator will not be able to generate enough power.

- If you are not confident performing this repair, you can take your car to a mechanic to have it done.
