Replacing the Windshield Washer Pump on a Dodge Caravan

Tools and materials:

* Screwdriver

* Ratchet

* Socket wrench

* Phillips head screwdriver

* Flat head screwdriver

* Pliers

* New windshield washer pump

* Washer fluid

* Rags

* Goggles

* Gloves

Instructions:

1. Locate the windshield washer pump. On the Dodge Caravan, the pump is located on the passenger side of the vehicle, in front of the wheel well. It is a small, black plastic cylinder with a rubber hose attached to it.

2. Disconnect the electrical connector. Use your hands or a pair of pliers to disconnect the electrical connector from the top of the pump.

3. Remove the two screws that hold the pump in place. Use your Phillips head screwdriver to remove the two screws that hold the pump to the vehicle frame.

4. Pull the pump out of the vehicle. Once the screws are removed, you can pull the pump out of the vehicle. Be careful not to spill any washer fluid.

5. Inspect the rubber hose. Inspect the rubber hose that connects the pump to the washer fluid reservoir. If the hose is cracked or damaged, you will need to replace it.

6. Install the new pump. Place the new pump in the same position as the old pump. Insert the two screws that hold the pump in place and tighten them until they are snug.

7. Reconnect the electrical connector. Reconnect the electrical connector to the top of the pump.

8. Test the pump. Turn on the windshield wipers and check to make sure that the washer fluid is spraying properly.

Tips:

* If the windshield washer fluid is not spraying properly, check to make sure that the spray nozzles are not clogged. You can use a small piece of wire to clean the nozzles.

* If you are replacing the windshield washer pump, it is a good idea to replace the washer fluid at the same time. This will help to keep the pump from becoming clogged.

* Be careful not to spill any washer fluid. Washer fluid can damage paint and other surfaces.
