How do you disconnect the rear caliper and rotor?

To disconnect the rear caliper and rotor, follow these steps:

1. Park your vehicle on a level surface and engage the parking brake.

2. Loosen the lug nuts on the rear wheel that you will be working on, but do not remove them completely.

3. Jack up the rear of the vehicle until the wheel is off the ground.

4. Remove the lug nuts and take off the wheel.

5. Locate the caliper mounting bracket on the back of the caliper. It is usually held in place by two bolts.

6. Use a wrench to loosen and remove the caliper mounting bolts.

7. Once the bolts are removed, you can slide the caliper off of the rotor.

8. Be careful not to let the caliper hang by the brake line.

9. Use a pry bar to pry the brake pads apart so that they clear the rotor.

10. If necessary, you can use a C-clamp to compress the piston back into the caliper.

11. Once the caliper is disconnected, you can remove the rotor by pulling it straight off of the hub.
