- Phillips head screwdriver
- Ratchet with 10mm and 14mm sockets
- Flathead screwdriver
- Brake pad spreader
- C-clamp
- Replacement brake pads
Instructions:
1. Loosen the lug nuts on the front wheels but do not remove them.
2. Jack the vehicle up and support on jack stands. Make sure the vehicle is secure before continuing.
3. Remove the front wheels.
4. Locate the brake caliper. It is the silver colored part that houses the brake pads.
5. Remove the two 14mm bolts that hold the caliper in place.
6. Gently pry the caliper up and off the brake rotor.
- There will be tension from the brake line so do not pull too hard.
7. Remove the old brake pads from the caliper bracket. Inspect the brake pad pins and bores and clean out any dirt or debris.
8. Compress the brake caliper piston using a C-clamp.
9. Install new brake pads into the caliper bracket, make sure they are properly seated.
10. Reinstall the caliper and the 14mm bolts.
11. Reinstall the front wheels and lug nuts.
12. Press the brake pedal to seat the new brake pads.
Repeat for the other side of the vehicle.
Tips:
- Be careful not to get brake fluid on the painted surface of the vehicle as it can damage the paint.
- If the brake fluid is low, add fluid to the master cylinder.
- Always check the brake fluid level after performing brake work.
