- Lug wrench
- Jack and jack stands
- C-clamp or brake caliper tool
- Flathead screwdriver
- Hammer
Instructions:
1. Loosen the lug nuts on the rear wheels with the lug wrench but do not remove them.
2. Jack up the rear of the truck and secure it with the jack stands.
3. Remove the lug nuts and take off the rear wheels.
4. Locate the brake caliper on the back of the wheel hub assembly.
5. Use the C-clamp or brake caliper tool to compress the brake caliper piston into the caliper. This will release the pressure on the brake pads and allow you to remove them.
6. Remove the brake pads from the caliper.
7. Use a flathead screwdriver to pry the brake drum retaining clip off of the wheel hub assembly.
8. Use a hammer to gently tap the brake drum until it loosens and comes off of the wheel hub assembly.
9. Inspect the brake drum and replace it if necessary.
10. Reassemble the brake system in the reverse order of disassembly.
