- Disconnect the spark plug wire and remove the air filter cover if it is in the way.
- Remove any debris or grass clippings that are stuck around the drive belt area.
- Move the lawnmower to a flat, level surface.
- Apply the parking brake.
Step 2: Remove the drive belt guard
- Locate the drive belt guard on the underside of the lawn mower.
- Remove the nuts and bolts that hold it in place.
Step 3: Remove the old drive belt
- Slide the old drive belt from the pulleys.
Step 4: Install the new drive belt
- Place the new drive belt around the pulleys.
- Make sure that the belt is properly seated in the grooves of the pulleys.
- Tighten the nuts and bolts that hold the drive belt guard in place.
Step 5: Test the drive belt
- Start the lawn mower and engage the drive.
- Check to make sure that the drive belt is working properly.
