How do you repack the front wheel bearings on a Nissan x trail?

Step 1: Remove the wheel

1. Park the vehicle on a level surface and engage the parking brake.

2. Chock the rear wheels.

3. Jack up the front of the vehicle until the wheel is off the ground.

4. Remove the lug nuts and take off the wheel.

Step 2: Remove the brake caliper

1. Remove the two bolts holding the brake caliper to the steering knuckle.

2. Slide the brake caliper off the rotor.

3. Hang the caliper out of the way with a piece of wire or cord.

Step 3: Remove the hub assembly

1. Unfasten the 4 bolts attaching the hub assembly to the steering knuckle.

2. Pull the hub assembly away from the steering knuckle, until the CV axle comes out of the hub assembly.

3. Pry the dust cover off of the hub assembly to reveal the bearing.

Step 4: Remove the old bearings

1. Pry the old bearing race off of the hub assembly.

2. Remove the old bearing from the hub using a suitable tool.

Step 5: Clean the hub assembly

1. Clean the hub assembly thoroughly, removing all traces of old grease.

Step 6: Install the new bearings

1. Press the new bearing races into the hub assembly by hand.

2. Install the new bearing into the hub assembly, using a suitable tool.

Step 7: Fill the hub assembly with grease

1. Apply a small amount of high-temperature grease to the inside of the hub.

Step 8: Reinstall the hub assembly

1. Place the outer end of the CV axle into the hub assembly.

2. Slide the hub assembly onto the steering knuckle, ensuring it is properly seated.

3. Bolt the hub assembl to the steering knuckle.

Step 9: Reinstall the brake caliper

1. Slide the brake caliper over the rotor.

2. Install new brake caliper bracket bolts and tighten.

3. Pump the brake pedal in order to seat the brake caliper.

Step 10: Reinstall the wheel

1. Place the wheel back on the hub.

2. Secure the wheel with the lug nuts.

3. Lower the vehicle.
