1. Open the door.
2. There will be a metal clip you need to remove first. It's just the size and shape of the plastic escutcheon around the exterior of the door lock knob button. Slide your slotted screwdriver in the bottom and it will pop out as you pull. Remove from door.
3. Take your Phillips screwdriver to the handle assembly. There are two screws, one at 10 o'clock and one at 2 o'clock. The screws are about 3/8 inches in diameter. Unscrew both.
4. Next, open and close the door so the handle button aligns at the "UP" position.
5. Pull hard on the inside handle, while slightly sliding it up. The inside piece (escutcheon) should come off. Remove from the door.
6. To remove the exterior handle, push the handle button and the handle should slide out. There is a rubber grommet that will get pushed through with the handle. It's okay to allow it to come through.
7. Pull or push the rubber grommet back through inside the door.
8. Place a small washer in bottom of the opening the rubber grommet slides through and re-insert the rubber grommet.
9. Take the new inside door handle escutcheon and align the button up with the hole inside the door. Slide the new escutcheon into place and make sure the small button slides into the rectangular opening.
10. Push the handle assembly into place from the exterior of the door. Ensure that the handle buttons align as they should. You may have to move up or down slightly or push harder to engage the handle to get correct alignments.
11. Once satisfied, replace the two # 10 x 3/4" Phillips head screws.
12. Replace metal clip you removed in Step 2 into opening near the door lock.
13. Open and close the door to ensure door handle is positioned properly.
