- Phillips head screwdriver
- Socket wrench with 10mm socket
- Flathead screwdriver
1. Disconnect the battery. This will prevent the airbag from deploying while you are working.
2. Remove the airbag. There are two bolts on the back of the steering wheel that hold the airbag in place. Use the 10mm socket to remove the bolts. Once the bolts are removed, you can gently pry the airbag off of the steering wheel. Be careful not to touch the airbag wires.
3. Remove the steering wheel. There is one nut in the center of the steering wheel that holds it in place. Use the 10mm socket to remove the nut. Once the nut is removed, you can pull the steering wheel off of the shaft.
4. Disconnect the wiring harness. There is a wiring harness that connects the steering wheel to the vehicle. Use the Phillips head screwdriver to remove the screws that hold the harness in place. Once the screws are removed, you can disconnect the harness.
5. Remove the steering column cover. There are two screws that hold the steering column cover in place. Use the Phillips head screwdriver to remove the screws. Once the screws are removed, you can pry the cover off.
6. Remove the steering wheel lock bolt. There is a bolt that holds the steering wheel lock in place. Use the 10mm socket to remove the bolt. Once the bolt is removed, you can remove the steering wheel lock.
7. Install the new steering wheel. To install the new steering wheel, simply reverse the steps that you took to remove the old steering wheel. Be sure to tighten all of the nuts and bolts securely before driving the vehicle.
