1. Disconnect the battery
> Disconnect the negative terminal on your battery.
> This is done with a wrench or socket set, and will only take a few seconds.
> Be sure to turn your car off and have your emergency brake engaged before doing this.
2. Drain the coolant
> Find the petcock on your car, which is a brass fitting at the bottom of your radiator.
> Place your drain bucket under the car, then open the petcock with a screwdriver.
> You can also remove the lower radiator hose, but this can be messier.
3. Locate the thermostat
> This can be found in the upper radiator hose connection, where the hose joins the top of the engine.
4. Remove the old thermostat
> Remove the bolts holding the thermostat housing in place, and then remove the old thermostat.
> Be careful not to drop the thermostat, as it may contain coolant which can be harmful.
5. Install the new thermostat
> This can be done by placing the new thermostat in the housing, then reinstalling the bolts.
> Be sure to place the new thermostat in the correct direction, which should be indicated on the thermostat itself.
6. Reinstall your coolant
> Reinstall the lower radiator hose (or close your petcock) and add coolant to your vehicle until the reservoir reads "FULL".
7. Reconnect your battery
> Reinstall the negative terminal of your battery.
