Autoblog just published the first public spy shots taken to the second generation Nissan Leaf. Truth to be told, it does look much better than the current generation.

The charge port cover remains as big as it was in the older generation, this suggests that Nissan will probably keep the combination of SAE J1772 (IEC Type 1) and CHAdeMO charging sockets instead of moving to CCS.

The less rounded back design suggests a better cargo space than we’re used to in the current generation Leaf.
But is it just me or this Leaf – unfortunately – doesn’t look anything like the IDS concept?

I think that the Nissan Leaf in the spy shots looks much more similar to the old renderings we already know for a while.

To sum up…
There aren’t much details about these spy shots yet. The license plate is from the State of Michigan in the USA, but will Nissan be testing a similar car in London, UK starting this month? Or the autonomous Nissan Leaf that will be tested in London is just the minor facelifted version with ProPILOT, which we already saw in CES 2017?
This proof that Nissan isn’t sleeping is what I think that Chevrolet needed to put some effort and expand the Bolt EV availability faster, especially under the Opel brand in Europe with the Opel Ampera-e.
