Park the car on a flat surface and turn off the engine. Engage the parking brake.
Step 2: Disconnect the negative battery cable
The negative battery cable is usually black and is marked with a "-" sign. Use a wrench to loosen the bolt that holds the cable to the battery terminal.
Step 3: Disconnect the positive battery cable
The positive battery cable is usually red and is marked with a "+" sign. Use a wrench to loosen the bolt and remove the cable.
Step 4: Remove the battery hold-down
The battery hold-down is a bracket that holds the battery in place. Use a wrench to loosen the bolts and remove the hold-down.
Step 5: Lift the battery out
Carefully lift the battery out of the engine compartment.
Step 6: Install the new battery
Place the new battery in the engine compartment. Be sure to align the positive and negative terminals correctly.
Step 7: Secure the battery hold-down
Replace the battery hold-down and tighten the bolts.
Step 8: Connect the positive battery cable
Connect the positive battery cable to the positive terminal of the battery. Tighten the bolt.
Step 9: Connect the negative battery cable
Connect the negative battery cable to the negative terminal of the battery. Tighten the bolt.
Step 10: Start the car
Start the car and let it run for a few minutes. This will allow the battery to recharge.
