If you live in the United Kingdom and want to order a new Renault Zoe, you’ll have to wait until 19th March. Curiously, that’s the following day to the closing of the 88th Geneva International Motor Show.
This is what Renault UK has to say:
Europe’s best selling EV of 2017, ZOE is continuing to prove incredibly popular.
As Europe’s number 1 selling EV last year, ZOE is continuing to prove incredibly popular – and we’ve sold all of our UK production for the current model. We’re working hard to bring you ZOE Model Year 2018, with the fantastic new R110 motor’s improved performance, as well as new Android Auto compatibility, and a great new colour. It’s not far away, with orders opening on 19 March.
To keep up with the demand Renault needs LG Chem’s help to increase production. LG Chem is expected to start producing battery cells at its new European plant in Poland any day now.
Now the important question is: with a considerable production increase, will Renault take the opportunity to adjust Zoe’s price?
The second-generation Nissan Leaf has just arrived and it’s a much better equipped car at a similar price. The Renault Zoe really needs a price cut to keep its title of best selling electric car in Europe.
