The Renault ZOE ZE 40 has arrived in the UK. Here are some of the things we like about this super stylish, super cute, super mini…
- Cracking range: The new battery upgrade found in the ZOE ZE 40 increases the real world range of the car to a very impressive 180 miles on a single charge (Renault claims the 41kWh battery gives the ZOE a range of 250 miles under the comparative NEDC test regime, but says you shouldn’t expect more than 186 miles in normal driving)
- Eco-savings: As with all pure electric vehicles, the ZOE has zero tailpipe emissions so there’s no VED, company car tax or congestion charge to pay
- Low insurance: The Zoe has an impressively low insurance rating of group 14 or 16 (depending on which trim)
- Remote app control: The vehicle charging system works in sync with a phone app which allows you to remotely control the battery charge scheduling and pre-set the cabin ambient temperature while the car is still plugged in (so you don’t waste precious battery power on cabin heat before starting of your journey)
- Oodles of boot space: It’s a five-seater hatchback with a spacious 338-litre boot (that’s 38 litres more than in a Clio) which expands to 1,225 litres with the rear seats folded
- Acceleration: 0-62mph in 13.5sec Top speed: 84mph
- Award-Winner: Best Electric Car under £20,000 at the What Car? Awards 4 years running
- Popular choice: As of today, Renault has sold more than 4,500 ZOE in the UK, making it the third most popular electric car.
On the down-side, the price is not so super-mini… Priced at £19,895 to purchase outright (after plug-in car grant – battery lease is additional, prices start at £59 a month) the Renault Zoe is a bit on the pricey side, particularly for a second-car option. Personal leasing offers for this vehicle are currently available from £435 a month (inclusive of battery).
