Last month, Hyundai managed to sell 304 units of the electric Kona in South Korea. This is one of the most awaited electric cars of 2018, with great safety features (AEB, ACC, LKAS and HUD) and decent range. The only problem will be low production and availability.
In the meantime, the most direct alternative to the Hyundai Kona Electric is the Chevrolet Bolt EV that is available to buy in South Korea since March. With very similar price, size, power and range, availability will determine which one will sell better.
Not long ago, the South Korean electric car market was very poor in options, but the arrival of the Hyundai IONIQ Electric sparked competition. GM finally decided to sell the Chevrolet Bolt EV in South Korea and Renault is considering to bring the new generation Zoe next year.
Anyway, the Korean automakers are now presenting great electric cars, but with low availability to test the waters. Not only the Kia Niro EV will arrive later this year, but also the Kia Soul EV will have its range increased with the introduction of a new generation.
Thanks Michał for the heads up.
