1. Park your truck in a level spot and engage the parking brake. Chock the wheels to prevent the truck from rolling.
2. Locate the four bolts that secure the front of the bed to the frame. These bolts are located just behind the front wheels, one on each side.
3. Remove the four bolts using a wrench or socket set.
4. Locate the two bolts that secure the rear of the bed to the frame. These bolts are located just above the rear axle, one on each side.
5. Remove the two bolts using a wrench or socket set.
6. Remove the two nuts that secure the bed to the tailgate. These nuts are located on the underside of the tailgate.
7. Remove the tailgate by lifting it up and out.
8. Disconnect the electrical connectors for the taillights and license plate light. These connectors are located on the underside of the bed, near the rear.
9. Use a pry bar to carefully pry the bed up and off of the frame. Be careful not to damage the bed or the frame.
10. Set the bed aside in a safe location.
