1. Park your vehicle on a level surface.
2. Turn off the engine and wait a few minutes for the transmission fluid to cool down.
3. Open the hood of your vehicle.
4. Locate the transmission fluid dipstick. It is usually located near the back of the engine compartment, on the driver's side.
5. Pull out the dipstick and wipe it clean with a rag.
6. Reinsert the dipstick into the transmission fluid tube.
7. Pull the dipstick out again and check the fluid level. The fluid should be between the "FULL" and "ADD" marks on the dipstick.
8. If the fluid level is low, add enough transmission fluid to bring the level up to the "FULL" mark.
9. Reinsert the dipstick and close the hood of your vehicle.
You should check the transmission fluid level regularly, especially if you are towing or driving in hilly areas. Low transmission fluid levels can cause the transmission to overheat and fail.
