You will need the following tools and materials:
- New oil filter (check your owner's manual for the correct size)
- New oil (check your owner's manual for the correct type and amount)
- Oil filter wrench
- Oil drain pan
- Funnel
- Jack
- Jack stands (optional)

Instructions:
1. Safety first! Before you start the work, ensure your vehicle is parked on a level surface, and the engine is off. Engage the parking brake. If necessary, you may need to use a jack and jack stands to raise the vehicle to access the oil drain plug and filter. Use caution when working under a raised vehicle.
2. Locate the oil drain plug. It is usually located at the bottom of the oil pan.
3. Place the oil drain pan below the oil drain plug.
4. Loosen the oil drain plug. Use the wrench to loosen the oil drain plug and allow the oil to drain into the pan. Ensure you fully remove the bolt and don't allow any debris or dirt into the oil pan.
5. While the oil is draining, you can remove the oil filter. It is usually located at the top of the engine. Use the oil filter wrench to loosen the oil filter and remove it by hand. Be careful not to spill any remaining oil from the filter. You may find it easier to remove if you do this before starting the vehicle and circulating the oil.
6. Install the new oil filter. Lubricate the gasket of the new oil filter with some of the new oil. Screwed on the new oil filter by hand until it is snug, then tighten it another 1/2 to 3/4 turn with the oil filter wrench. (Do not over-tighten the oil filter.)
7. Replace the oil drain plug. Replace the oil drain plug and tighten it securely with the wrench.
8. Add new oil to the engine. Use the funnel to add the correct amount of new oil to the engine. Check your owner's manual for the correct amount.
9. Check the oil level. Use the dipstick to check the oil level and ensure it is between the "full" and "add" marks.
10. Start the engine. Run the engine for a few minutes to circulate the new oil. Check for any leaks. Turn off the engine.
11. Check the oil level again. Use the dipstick to check the oil level one last time and ensure it is between the "full" and "add" marks.
*Note: Before starting the engine after an oil change, turn the key to the ON (II) position without cranking the engine. This allows the oil pump to prime and pressurize before attempting to start the engine. Then turn the key to the START (III) position to start the engine.
