Battery Location:
- The battery is located in the trunk of the 1998 Dodge Stratus, on the driver's side.
Instructions:
1. Open the trunk.
2. Locate the battery. It is secured with a plastic bracket and a metal hold-down clamp.
3. Disconnect the negative (black) terminal cable: Loosen the nut on the negative terminal using the wrench, and remove it.
4. Disconnect the positive (red) terminal cable: Loosen the nut on the positive terminal using the wrench, and remove it.
5. Remove the hold-down clamp: Unscrew the bolts holding the clamp in place, using the screwdriver.
6. Remove the old battery: Take the battery out of the vehicle.
7. Place the new battery in the vehicle: Put the new battery in the battery tray, making sure that the positive and negative terminals are aligned correctly.
8. Replace the hold-down clamp: Screw the bolts back into place, to secure the battery.
9. Reconnect the positive (red) terminal cable: Replace the nut on the positive terminal, using the wrench, and tighten it securely.
10. Reconnect the negative (black) terminal cable: Replace the nut on the negative terminal, using the wrench, and tighten it securely.
11. Close the trunk.
Tips:
- Be careful when working around batteries, as they contain acid and can cause severe burns if they come into contact with skin or eyes.
- When disconnecting the battery, always disconnect the negative terminal first, and reconnect it last.
- When reconnecting the battery, make sure that the terminals are clean and free of corrosion.
- If the battery terminals are corroded, you can clean them with a wire brush and baking soda.
- For safety, wear safety glasses when working around batteries.
- If the battery is stuck in place, you may need to use a pry bar to gently pry it out.
